Helpful tips
Always remove the key from the lock to protect the lock and adjacent doors from damage, as warranties don’t usually cover this.
The lead door is always the first door to open and the last to close.
The lead door must remain attached to the magnetic keep when the doors are open and in operation.
Ensure your opening leaf connects with the magnets. Do not leave the leaf free as it can knock the doors out of line.
Slave handles should not be used to pull the doors along the track into the closed position.
Aboid wearing rings and jewellery when cleaning as they can scratch the frames.
Maintaining your doors
Aluminium bi fold doors are fairly low maintenance as they usually come with a double powder coated finish on the frame.
Frames
To clean the frame simply clean down with a bucket of warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Do not use rough or abrasive materials as it could damage it. If you do this regularly then your door will not collect enough dirt and grime and you will not have to clean it so vigorously.
Glass
For your glass: A regular non- abrasive glass cleaner is fine for your glass, as you would for other windows and doors around the house.
Cleaning the track
Next up is the track Cleaning, this is essential because and dirt and debris can knock the bifold out of line. these products requires a vacuum and a thin nozzle to suck away any dirt and debris within the track
Seals and gaskets: Check seals and gaskets. If any have become dislodged, they should be relatively easy to slide back into their grooves. You might want to wipe these down with a damp cloth.
Lubrication
It is important to lubricate your door around every 6 months. Making sure you have the right lubrication is paramount. For hardware such as hinges, handles, letterplates and knockers, we recommend using a light engineering oil such as 3-in-1 or similar. Avoid using WD-40 or other cleaning agents, as these products tend to dry out quickly and won’t lubricate your door for long. For the locking mechanism, look to use a Teflon-based lubricant, which works to reduce friction and wear. Do not use oil or graphite powder as this will do more harm than good.
